Activities

Breviarian Big Tent Festival

  • It is a week-long gathering of vibrant young people eager to deepen their faith in God especially their love for the Eucharistic Jesus and worshipping Him through the beauty of the Liturgy, dynamic talks and workshops. Naturally, relationship with our neighbor is of vital importance. Hence, there is also a big room for fellowship, songs, games and animations.
  • Our primary goal is for us to fall in love with Holy Mother Church – the Mystical Body of Christ, and to be one with Jesus, the Head…That in order for us to keep the Eucharistic life alive and growing, we should nurture it by our deep appreciation of the active participation in the Liturgy…and with all these integrated in our life, we are moved to mission, to charity, to love, to lay down our lives for our friends…”for to live is Christ and to die is gain…”
  • Why Breviarian? Aside from being the host, the term Breviarian connotes that the Big Tent Festival is a gathering of the Youth-at-Prayer. It is based on the name Breviary or the Liturgy of the hours, the highest form of prayer next to the Holy Mass.
  • Why Big Tent? Tents are reminders of no-permanency. Going back to the Old Testament times where the Jews wandered in the desert for forty years after being released from Egyptian captivity, their faith in God were tested time and again until it was ripe for them to enter the Promised Land. We literally recall these timeless messages by setting-up big tents for general activities and small tents for rest and sleep, and a very special tent for the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the whole course of the Festival. The tents serve as visual aids reminding us that our earthly life is temporary but its goal Eternity.
  • Why Festival? Life is a celebration. Why should we not celebrate the victory of the Risen Christ over Satan, sin, and death? No wonder Easter is the greatest feast of the Church, and its essence the basis of our faith.

BREVSTOCK

  • As an expression of our utmost thanksgiving to our King and God, Jesus Christ, for the year that has passed and the year to come, we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King by producing a Contemporary Musical Worship Concert where different youth groups and Christian communities come together to play and sing songs for our Lord’s greater glory.
  • Its first staging was last Jubilee Year 2000. This was actually the first major fruit of the First Breviarian Big Tent Festival held in May of the same year. Thus, it is Eucharistic. It is our hope to make a difference by uniting all our Christian Brothers and Sisters through music and worship. For though we are many, we are one body in Christ.
  • Our goal is simply to BRing EVery Soul TO Christ the King

Breviarian Pilgrim Vigil

  • Being a Eucharistic and Liturgical community, we would like to inspire and bring all young people to love the Real Presence of Christ – through adoration, worship, and fellowship. Therefore, every First Friday, we go from one parish to another to have this special meeting with their youth.
  • The Breviarians also means the youth-at-prayer. During our overnight vigil, we pray in reparation for the sins committed against life and for the world’s conversion. This is also offered in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
  • It is our dream to see all young people from different places coming together to have this Pilgrim Vigil with us not just every First Friday but at least all Fridays of the month. So, join us! ☺

Breviarian Easter Carols

  • Easter is a grand celebration. It’s the greatest feast of our Liturgical Year. We sing “Jesus is alive!” We are called “masayang Kristyano;” so we spread this to every house singing all our Easter Carols reminiscing every event that happened on Christ’s resurrection.
  • Part of our house-to-house caroling is the blessing of the family by the head or by a priest, if present. Yeap! It’s no ordinary caroling! It’s a joyful prayer service where we sing, dance, and reflect on the Word of God. It’s short but very meaningful.
  • Our Easter Carols prepare us to have a blissful disposition for the Big Tent Festival which usually falls on a Pentecost week. ☺

Pasch

  • Lenten season is a very holy season for us. During this time, we remember how much our Lord loves us in a very special way. That is why every holy week, as part of our participation and commemoration on the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, we prepare a musical drama concert usually staged every Good Friday.

Small Tent Series

  • God gave us a lot of talents. Most of them remain hidden for some time waiting to be discovered…unlocked…exposed! Small Tent series give us that opportunity to explore what else we can do. We should keep in mind that most of God’s gifts are revealed when we allow ourselves to be used for His
    purpose.
  • Small Tent series are series of workshops. Simply put it: liturgical training, altar servers’ workshop, and music lessons such as guitars, drums and voice; theater, music writing, and dance.

ATTIC

  • Afternoon Tea Time Immersion Club
  • Interesting huh? It’s an Afternoon Tea Time. O yes! We do serve tea and biscuits. It’s a yummy afternoon alright! And we do it inside the attic..uh…well...ur…look-alike attic.
  • We Immerse into something deep. Before we grab our teas and biscuits, we immerse ourselves first. On what? During our Tea Time, we have praise and worship and then we listen to the Word of God. We invite speakers to give us a teaching and then we share.
  • It’s a Club since we come together for a purpose. It’s where we unwind and are fed spiritually and physically. ☺

Brev Influence Outreach

  • Our love and joy cannot be contained just within our community. We want to share our spirituality and our wonderful experience to all young people as far as from the East to the farthest West, from the North to the farthest South.
  • The Brevs are being trained to be one with the Youth and to establish friendship no matter what the race, religion, or culture they possess. We go to schools and even communities far from the city just to sing and teach songs, exchange stories or experience and if needed, train leaders in their parish or youth group so they can be more effective in their ministries and to the Church as a whole. We simply inspire them.
  • Not only do we serve our fellow youth in schools, parishes, and communities, we also serve them at their dorms, household, and even establishments like banks. We simply have a sort of a mini prayer meeting where we praise and worship, and listen and share the Word of God.

***************

The Banquet

  • “…For richer and for poorer; for sickness and in health, ‘til death do us part…” How marvelous are God’s ways! He even created man and woman to love and be one…finally as husband and wife with the blessing from above. With this celebration, we are happy to add joy to the celebration of the wedding feast by serenading them during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as they say, “I DO.”

***************

Fireplace

  • Holy Spirit, Let the Fire fall!
  • There will be 10 sessions which will include talks on the Holy Spirit and His gifts. Also, sharings and personal testimonies will be given by the speakers for this seminar.
  • Purpose is to release in us the gifts of the Holy Spirit so we may be more equipped in our ministries and become more effective disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. This will enhance our personal relationship with the God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

***************

Heaven’s Gate

  • …From ashes to ashes; from dust to dust… It is a privilege when we are called to render wake services. We pray with the bereaved family, sing songs, give words of consolation, and have fellowship with them. Despite the unbearable detachment from a loved one, we hope to instill in their hearts the joy of resurrection and the reunion that is soon to be celebrated in heaven.

***************

Daily Mass Services

  • The Eucharist is the center of our Brev life. It is God’s amazing grace that gives us the blessing to lead the people to sing and actively participate during the celebration of the Holy Mass. Praise Him for the schedules that allow us to serve daily in different parishes most especially at Baguio Cathedral.

***************

Liturgy of the Hours

  • Everyday we come in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and pray the second highest form of worship – the Breviary. May we invite you to join us and be part of this holy prayer that was prayed since the time of Jesus. Let us be one with the whole Universal Church and unite our praises, thanksgiving, and intentions to our loving God.
